The 2019 Convention approved a new logo in two versions, vertical and horizontal; and in three colors, blue, brown, and black. These logos will replace the 2000 slanted logo which can no longer be used. See downloadable logos and revised policy instructions for use – tbp.org/off/graphics.cfm. Also included in the revised policy are examples of ways chapters may vary the logo colors to create a custom logo for your chapter.
You should remove the 2000 slanted logo from your website and other digital items right away and replace it with either the vertical or horizontal 2019 logo. Follow these provisions for phasing out insignia items displaying the 2000 logo and transition to use of the new logo.
- Cease production of new items with the 2000 logo immediately.
- No new items may be printed with the 2000 logo after December 31, 2019.
- Current stock maybe used until depletion.
All new insignia designs must be submitted to for approval before being produced. Contact Pat with questions.
Be sure to remind members to upload their resume here. A majority of recruiters who attended the 2019 Convention will have access to these resumes through April 30, 2020. At that time, we will begin a new cycle of encouraging students to upload resumes and offering access to the recruiters who plan to attend the 2020 Convention.
Follow this link to a list of recruiters who attended the 2019 Convention Recruiting Fair and who have access to the resumes. We expect this list to grow. Corporate and government recruiters are looking to fill full-time and internship positions and the graduate programs are seeking candidates for masters and Ph.D. programs.
After contacting your eligible candidates, the chapter must decide who they will elect to membership. The list should be voted on by the chapter membership and submitted to HQ as the Report of Election. This report must be submitted with each electee's online catalog card (which should be completed by electee) and APPROVAL RECEIVED BEFORE you hold initiation.
Contact HQ if you have not received approval at least two days in advance. DO NOT INITIATE anyone that is not on the initiation approval. Online catalog cards (electronic) should be filled out by the initiates, and must be completed before membership items can be ordered. If you want keys and certificates for initiation, plan to submit at least three weeks before initiation.
After your approved initiation, submit the Report of Final Action indicating who was initiated. Please have each initiate print and sign their name in your chapter's Roll Book. a scanned copy of your rollbook signatures and submit your initiation fees. All three of these items are due two weeks after your initiation.
If you have any questions about initiation, the membership process, or need an extension, contact or call 865-546-4578.
The resources of Tau Beta Pi's Student Loan Fund are available to members who otherwise would be without sufficient money to remain in college, complete their courses, or pay TBP initiation fees. Please tell your initiates and members that loans of $25 to $2,500 are made for up to three years, and the interest rate is six percent per year on the unpaid balance beginning from the time the loan is made. (After three years the interest accrues at 10 percent.)
Loans are also available to new members for the amount of the initiation fee. No candidate should decline membership because of his or her inability to pay the initiation fee. Notes must be co-signed by financially independent persons, such as a parent. Application forms are available here.
Check the website for information about filing this IMPORTANT form with the IRS. There are serious consequences for failure to do so.
Inform your members that applications for Fellowships will open in December. Any member planning full-time graduate study during the 2020-21 academic year is encouraged to apply by February 1; the stipend is $10,000. Encourage your members to apply online.

All requests for chapter graduation regalia should be placed through the Chapter Supplies area of the Tau Beta Pi Store. Please order as early as possible and allow a minimum of 2-3 weeks for processing and shipping. As a reminder, requested regalia will be held until any old outstanding chapter balances are paid in full.
The Image & Marketing Committee at the 2018 Convention determined that Instagram can be an effective way to employ social media given consistent implementation through hashtags, stories, and posts.
Have your collegiate chapter create its own Instagram account using the following naming: tbp_school_acronym. Then follow the Association's Instagram account. We need you to post your content to get this up and running. Also, looking to give a big boost to Tau Beta Pi Day (March 14, 2020).
