The 114th Convention will be held October 10-12 in Columbus, Ohio, hosted by OH Gamma, Delta, and Iota Chapters. The expenses (travel, lodging, meals, registration) for voting delegates are covered by the Association; it is a requirement to send a delegate. All voting delegates should plan to arrive Wednesday to begin committee work on Thursday morning (updated from the July 1 email). Non-voting delegates and chapter advisors are also encouraged to attend, but expenses are not covered. Friday's schedule includes corporate and graduate school Recruiting Fair and professional development sessions.
Anyone attending must create their registration account by August 1 and complete registration by September 1. The deadline to submit your travel plan is also September 1. Tau Beta Pi has secured a travel agent, , for those who prefer TBP HQ to make your airline reservation. If you have questions, contact .
If your chapter has not submitted credentials (14 outstanding chapters), review the instructions and submit them immediately.
All voting delegates MUST serve on a committee. You may select your committee preferences when registering and will be assigned to one committee based on interest and preference. Click here for a document containing charges to the 2019 Convention Committees.
Once assignments have been made, you will be notified by email of which committee you will serve.
Six alumni have been nominated for three positions on the Executive Council for the 2020-22 term. The election will take place at the 2019 Convention in Columbus, OH, on Saturday, October 12. All voting delegates receive a vote. The letter from Executive Director Gomulinski with their bios and statements of interest is here.
The Association would like to congratulate the 2019-20 class of 37 Fellows and 290 Scholars. Applications will be available in the fall, on the website, to apply for the 2020-21 TBP Fellowships and Scholarships.
The Project Report form can be found here. ALL outstanding reports for the 2018-19 academic year MUST be submitted by July 31. Anything received after the July 31 deadline will not be accepted or graded. Even though the deadline has passed, please submit any outstanding reports. The following reports WERE DUE JUNE 1:
- Financial Report – submit online
- Chapter Survey – submit online
- Project Reports – create PDF file and to Alex
We encourage you to complete these reports with both the outgoing and incoming officers present. This will ensure the incoming officers know the status of their chapter's reports and can keep a copy for the chapter's records.
Note: Any Project Reports included on your Chapter Survey need to have reports filed. Otherwise, the chapter will not receive full points for the survey. Did you hold a banquet or serve refreshments after initiation? That's a project! Did you polish individual Bents before initiation? That's a project! Did you host an Engineering Futures session? That's a project! These reports help determine the recipients of the Project Awards presented at Convention and are used to determine the Outstanding Chapter and Most Improved Chapter awards. A list of last year's Project Award winners is here.
With the launch of the new recruiting website, individuals interested in membership may now contact the officers listed for their institution. All chapter officials should be prepared to receive and respond to these inquiries as quickly as possible. If you are unable to answer a question received, forward it to and a respnose will be sent. Remember, when responding to potential candidates for membership, you are representing not only yourself and your chapter, but all of the Association. We also recommend "reply all" so we can keep a record of the correspondence.
