Combined Federal Campaign
Tau Beta Pi decided not to apply for status as an eligible organization in the 2017 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) National List, therefore you will NOT be able to support Tau Beta Pi through participation in the CFC in 2017. Your donations are very important to us, so if you normally support Tau Beta Pi through the CFC, we respectfully suggest that you make your 2017 gift by check or credit card here.
Since the year 2000, Tau Beta Pi has received thousands of dollars annually from this campaign. Tau Beta PI will continue to receive all pledges made to us during the 2016 campaign which ended on December 15, 2016. However, the local agencies gathering donations from employers have not been able to provide us with the names of all of our donors, therefore a donation made though this campaign will most likely not be included in a member's giving record. This situation is one of the reasons that we have decided not to apply to be an eligible organization this year. A major factor in the decision was that for the first time, all participating organizations are required to pay an application fee and a listing fee. The fee structures were based on an organization's annual revenue from all sources, not just from CFC. The fees that Tau Beta Pi would have to pay up front represented 40 percent of our projected CFC revenue for 2017 vs the usual 20 percent that CFC keeps after the fact as administrative fees. Because revenue from CFC gifts has declined in recent years, the upfront fees that TBP would be required to pay could possibly equal or exceed the 2017 CFC revenue. This was not an acceptable risk to take this year. We will evaluate the requirements for inclusion in the 2018 CFC campaign and will post any new developments on this page.
Thank you to all who have contributed to Tau Beta Pi through this campaign! Be assured that the contributions that we receive from the CFC are used to support the various programs of the Association, including Scholarships, Fellowships, MindSET, and Engineering Futures. Please feel free to contact Executive Director , if you have any questions about this program, your gifts, or our status this year.
